Billy Gerhard is a recipient of the NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes Award to Singapore in support of his research to characterize the ballast water microbiome. This research will occur during the months of June and July 2016 at the National University of Singapore in partnership with the lab of Dr. Karina Gin Yew-Hoong. In addition to working in a university setting, Billy will also work with industrial partners at the Danish Hydraulic Institute, Singapore -- a technical consultancy with ballast testing facilities located in Singapore.
